Fast-cutting 1215 carbon steel rods contain sulfur and phosphorous for cutting at fast speeds and machining into parts with tight tolerances and a bright, smooth finish. They are often used for automatic screw machining and manufactured into bushings, couplings, inserts, pins, and studs. Also called screw machine stock, 1215 carbon steel is not recommended for case hardening or welding.
