These single-lip rotary shaft seals retain oil and have a reinforced metal case for a strong, rigid fitting to a bore with a smooth finish. Their sealing lip presses against the shaft to prevent oil from leaking out during operation. Single-lip seals can operate at higher speeds than dual-lip seals.
