General purpose carbide ball end mills cut a wide range of materials. Carbide end mills provide excellent wear and heat resistance and are harder than high-speed steel or cobalt. AlTiN coating (aluminum titanium nitride) is optimized for milling hard and abrasive materials and is more heat resistant than TiN, TiCN, and TiAlN. It has a coating oxidation temperature of 800° C and a coating hardness of 4500 HV. Ball-nose end mills create round-bottomed grooves and slots and mills complex shapes that don't have sharp corners. Center-cutting end mills cut on the end and sides of the mill and are used for plunging, ramping, and machining bottom surfaces. Roughing/finishing end mills remove large amounts of material and create a smooth finish on the workpiece simultaneously.
