These cobalt jobber-length drill bits meet NAS (National Aerospace Standards) 907 specifications to indicate that bits meet high standards for high accuracy and strength required for use in the aerospace industry. Cobalt drill bits absorb some shock, tolerate higher drilling speeds, and are harder and more wear resistant than high-speed steel. Straw coating is primarily applied to identify cobalt drill bits. It can also be used to heat treat high-speed steel drill bits. Jobber-Length drill bits are the most commonly used and provide a good balance of strength and accuracy when drilling into a variety of materials. Split Point drill bits are self-centering, requires less pressure to start, limits walking when used in stationary and portable drills.
