Ratchet straps with snap-hook ends have a spring-tensioned closure that closes automatically to secure around an anchor point. The hook stays closed until the closure is pressed open again. The ratchet-style closure has a lever that provides more leverage than cam-style straps for securing heavy loads that will not be damaged by overtightening, such as lumber and machinery. Positive stops make them less likely to loosen than cam straps.
