Copper THHN/THWN-2 building wires are insulated general-use cables for lighting and other low-voltage applications. They are more flexible than other cable types, allowing them to fit into tighter spaces and be used for moving parts or equipment. They have a durable nylon sheath within their PVC insulation that helps protect them against moisture, abrasion, and chemical exposure. While they are rated to handle some moisture, they are less moisture-resistant than XHHW-2 cable. They are rated to handle 600V and can be used in dry locations up to 194°F or wet locations up to 167°F. Copper conductors are flexible "hot" wires carrying power distribution systems' current. They are heavier than aluminum wires but can handle higher current loads for the same size of wire.
