L-port PVC (polyvinyl chloride) ball valves have three ports that act as inlets or outlets, and they're used in diverter and selector applications. Diverter applications have media flowing through one inlet and flowing out through either one of the remaining outlets. Selector applications have media flowing from one of two inlet ports (from two different sources) with the remaining port acting as an outlet.
